Sierra Leone News: APC Presidential Candidate comes to town
After endorsing their 2018 flag-bearer and running mate in Makeni, President Ernest Bai Koroma, yesterday, together with other APC Party members showcased Samura Kamara and Chernor Bah to the electorate.
Driving from Makeni through Port Loko and then into Freetown, the three APC stalwarts waved and smiled.
Thousand of Sierra Leoneans, with their famous red attire, took to the streets singing and dancing saying, “We know am”, adding that both candidates are political virgins with no criminal records.
Supporters chanted; game changer, clean hands in politics, Samura the technocrat, we know him, chericoco the youth ambassador.
A middle-aged woman, Madiana, who sells drinks along Jui junction, said, “I heard earlier on and made up my mind not to vote in 2018 because my aspirant wasn’t chosen. But after seeing the billboards and handbills of both candidates I will vote for them come March.”
Abdul Kallon, commonly known as “Papanie”, explained the elections are over they are only waiting for NEC to complete the formalities, disclosing that Chernor Ramadan Bah had changed the entire game to victory.
Some Junior and Senior Secondary School pupils were seen dancing and singing along Bai Bureh Road leading into Calaba Town. They chanted, “We want free education for girls to continue and boys should also be considered”.
President Koroma, during the APC National Delegates Conference in Makeni, maintained he would be the one winning the elections for the candidates.
The President’s popularity was seen along the route into Freetown as supporters called, “world best”. But, some supporters were bothered by the missing former aspirants, who didn’t accompany the convoy.
