Ethiopian PM holds separate meetings with Kulmiye and Waddani presidential candidates

ADDIS ABABA – The presidential candidates of Somaliland’s ruling and main opposition political parties, Kulmiye and Waddani, met with Ethiopian PM Hailemariam Desalegn on October 10th and October 11th.

According to press releases from Kulmiye’s press office and Ethiopia’s news agency, Kulmiye leader, Musa Bihi Abdi and PM Desalegn discussed the upcoming presidential elections in Somaliland and strengthening ties between the two countries.

Irro with PM Desalegn (Oct 11th)

Waddani Presidential Candidate, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, and other senior Waddani officials met with PM Desalegn the following day (Oct 11).

According to a statement posted on Irro’s official Facebook page, the two sides also discussed bilateral ties.

Ethiopia’s state-run news agency did not publish the meeting between PM Desalegn and Irro.

Irro and his delegation also met with Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu on Oct 11th, before meeting PM Desalegn.
