Names of at least 11,309 candidates who will be fielded by various political parties in the August polls have been uploaded on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) portal.
So far IEBC has listed 8 presidential candidates, 180 gubernatorial aspirants, 258 senatorial candidates, 260 Woman representative candidates, 1,470 MP and 9,133 seeking MCA seats.

The list excluded the 4,950 independent candidates who had sought clearance ahead of August polls.
IEBC says, the candidates whose names appear on the Registration Management System beat the midnight deadline, with the agency set to clear them before releasing the final list on 28 May.
The number may, however, change as some names are awaiting clearance from the courts and the Political Party Tribunal.
Additionally, parties are yet to submit their full lists as repeat nominations have yet to be carried out in some regions.
Over 35 political party leaders and chairpersons are meeting with the Commission on election preparation, with some seeking to iron out party list disputes.
IEBC has asked aspirants with pending cases should write to the agency so they can be considered for late delivery – this even as the August 8 poll date nears.
