On March 12, 1948 Jennifer Josephine Hosten, the first Black woman to win the Miss World contest, was born in St. George’s, Grenada. Hosten won the contest December 3, 1970. After winning the contest, she earned her Master of Arts degree in political science and international relations from Carleton University
