The ministers, including PR Minister Dr Narottam Mishra, Home and Transport Minister Bhupendra Singh, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Urban Development Minister Maya Singh, Forest, Planning, Economics and Statistics Minister Dr Gaurishankar Shejwar, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Rustam Singh, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cottage-Rural Industries and Environment Minister Antar Singh Arya, Commerce, Industries, Employment and Mining Resources Minister Rajendra Shukla, Agriculture Minister Gaurishankar Bisen, Cooperative, Bhopal Gas Tragedy and Relief Minister of State (independent charge) Vishwas Sarang expressed deep sorrow over the death of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Forests and Environment Anil Madhav Dave.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his condolence message, said that Dave displayed administrative efficiency and skillfulness in the role of Union Minister of State. The passing away of an able coordinator of his stature is an irreparable loss to country and the State.
Chouhan said that it is hard to believe that Dave is no longer between us.
He was a river conservator, environmentalist, creative thinker, able coordinator and an exceptional strategist. He dedicated his entire life for the country and the service of society. He cared for everyone. The contribution of his skillful strategy was apparent from the BJP’s victory in three Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections.
Dave was always busy in work and was such a great devotee of Maa Narmada that he would reach the banks of Narmada whenever he could find time. He performed Narmada Parikrama through a small plane and raft. That time, he had organised several programmes and choupals for Narmada conservation.
Every two years, he would organise Nadi Mahotsav in which I also took part. When he was told about the Narmada Seva Yatra, he was very happy. In between, he was unwell, but still, he attended the Narmada Seva Yatra on May 9 and stayed the entire day.
He also took part in Nadi, Jal and Paryavaran Sammelan held in Bhopal on May 8. During a telephonic discussion after the completion ceremony of Narmada Seva Yatra at Amarkantak, he had said that the next workplan should now be worked out. His untimely demise is a personal loss for me, but destiny is not in our hands. Chief Minister Chouhan prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to his family to bear the loss. Late Dave’s last rites will take place with full state honour as per his last wish at Bandrabhan on May 19 at the spot where Nadi Mahotsav is organised. There will be a two-day state mourning on May 18 and 19.
Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Ajay Singh also expressed grief over Union Minister Dave’s sudden demise and said that he was thinktank of BJP. Ajay Singh said that Dave was inclined towards environment and river conservation. Singh prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to his family members to bear his loss.
