– Political parties have hundreds of nominees who will will be vying for various seats in the August 8 poll
– More than 16,000 nominees will be in the ballot including 11,000 from political parties and another more than 4,000 vying as inexpedient candidates
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) has released the number of candidates who have won nominations and whose names will appear in the ballot papers.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party has the highest number of nominees followed by ODM.
At least 64 political parties have nominated candidates for the race which will see more than 16,000 candidates participate in the race.
This includes 4,950 independent candidates and another 11,418 from political parties bringing the number to 16,368.
Jubilee has the highest number of gubernatorial candidates with 45 nominees while ODM has only 27.
Wiper is third with 13 governor candidates while Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC and Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap have 11 gubernatorial candidates each.
The following is the list of nominees showing the seven leading parties. It includes nominees for all positions including presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial, MP among others.
