A demonstration of result entry and demonstration of the counting process for the 2018 General Elections took place in Toorak, Suva, yesterday.
Three representatives from each of the political parties attended the event at the Fijian Elections Office.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the event was to familiarise the political parties with the process of data entry for the results.
The familiarisation process will help political parties understand the result management and audit mechanism built in the result management system.
“The result system is a very transparent system. Political parties and their representatives are allowed to be fully present throughout the process,” he said.
“To add to the confidence, FEO will this year have 24 hours live feed on the result area. This will allow anyone to log in at any time to see that the work is ongoing,” he said.
He said the reason for the live feed was to clarify the doubts of any political parties who had been making claims that the FEO has stopped counting the votes.
