James Timpson, boss of the family-owned keycutter and a major Tory donor, wrote an angry tirade on Twitter after his 15-year-old daughter was not let through station ticket barriers by Virgin staff because she lacked identification to prove her age.

“It’s 7pm and she is alone now at the station,” he, er, railed. “When did you have to prove how young you are? You are a disgrace.”
