President Kovind and political leaders greet people on the occasion of Chhath Puja

Today, it is the main day of Chhath Puja when lakhs of devotees will visit over 100 Ganga ghats in Bihar’s capital city Patna for the morning rituals and spend the day there till the sunset. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, greeted people on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

In his
released message Kovind stated, “On the occasion of Chhath Puja, a
festival traditionally associated with faith and fasting, I extend my
good wishes to all fellow citizens. The offering of ‘Ardhya’ to
Surya, the Sun God, by millions of devotees is an embodiment of the
spiritual consciousness of our people.”

He urged,
“May this festival, inspired by the energy of the sun, bless us
with prosperity and happiness.”

Bihar CM
Nitish Kumar , Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, other political leaders
such as Lalu Prashad Yadav, Tejasvi Yadav have also greeted people on
the occasion of Chhath Puja, terming the festival as inspect ghats
for Chhath festival termed as ‘Lokastha ka Mahaparv’ or great
festival of people’s faith.

Earlier, CM
Kumar had visited various Ganga ghats from Nasriganj in Danapur to
Kangan ghats and assured devotees’ safety, security and cleanliness
at the ghats during the four-day incident-free festival.

In Patna, at
Ganga ghats, lakhs of devotees are going to worship of the Sun God
with strict rituals today along with fasting for over 36 hours
without water. The devotees will pay their obeisance to both the
setting and the rising Sun as well take dips in River Ganga.

spiritual message of the festival is summed up in the haiku, “The
source of all life – / The Sun tells: be self-luminous – / be source
of own light.”
