Proposed visits of Amit Shah, Rahul raise political temperature in state- The New Indian Express

SANGAREDDY/YADADRI/HYDERABAD : The proposed visits of BJP national president Amit Shah and AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi to the state are gradually raising political temperature in the state. Reason: the two national parties — Congress and BJP, which previously joined hands with each other to accord statehood to Telangana, are now competing to derive substantial political benefit by taking on the pink party.

Seniors of both the BJP and the Congress have begun making efforts to ensure that their respective party’s top leader’s visit to the state is a success.

On Friday, BJP leaders visited Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Nalgonda districts, wherein Amit Shah will tour. The BJP leaders interacted with local party cadre and oversaw the preparations for their national president’s three-day visit.

Addressing mediapersons on the occasion, BJP MLC N Ramchandra Rao said that during the three-day visit to the combined Nalgonda district, Amit Shah would interact with various sections of people like farmers, Dalits and women.

“We are sure that our national president’s visit will pave the for new changes on Telangana’s political landscape,” he said. On the other hand, Congress seniors led by TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy too visited Sangareddy, wherein the party proposed to hold a public meeting on June 1, which will be addressed by Rahul Gandhi.

During his interaction with local Congress leaders, Uttam directed them to ensure that at least one lakh people are mobilised from erstwhile Medak district to Rahul’s public meeting.

“Ensure that at least ten persons from each village across the state attend the meeting. By doing so, we can mobilise 10 lakh people,” the TPCC chief reportedly told his party men.

Interestingly, Congress, which is of the view that farming community is unhappy with the policies of the state government, has decided to bring mirchi farmers, who were arrested by police in regard to the ransacking of Khammam market yard, to the meeting in order to give pinpricks to the ruling TRS.

Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao said, “We will bring the chilli farmers, who were handcuffed in Khammam, to Rahul’s meeting to expose government’s anti-farmers policies.”

Uttam further said Rahul would have a separate interaction with ryots and unemployed youth at Sangareddy, after the meeting.
