Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali has reignited the debate on the church and politics.
While leading the Ash Wednesday prayers at Parliament, the head of the Anglican church in Uganda said church leaders will continue speaking out on political and governance issues since they have a prophetic duty to their flock.
”The church has to also govern its, people” He said
The head of the Anglican church, the second largest religious institution in the country, added that religious leaders convey of God’s message to his people and insisted that the church will continue speaking out on behalf of the people for the good of all.
”How do you know that these are not prophetic statements?” Ntagali asked.
President Yoweri Museveni has consistently advised religious leaders against lecturing him on how to govern, saying they are not competent to discuss politics
