While President Trump is taking some time away from Washington this week, not everyone is getting out of the office.
Among the political topics Jost and Che covered specifically were immigration policy – who knew Lady Liberty had gotten so picky about guys, quipped Che – Kim Jong Un threatening Guam, the NAACP’s Missouri travel advisory, and the Baltimore Police Dept. planting drugs on suspects.
Co-host Colin Jost wanted to know what Don Jr. thought about the developments in the investigation into the possible collusion with Russian Federation.
Che also took on the recent debate over the Statue of Liberty’s intentions.
Cast member Alex Moffatt played Eric Trump and Mikey Day played Donald Jr.in the skit discussing the investigation into collusion with Russian Federation.
“When did the Statue of Liberty get so bougie?” he asked. (Mikey Day) joined the news anchors to summarize the last few months.
The latter comes in the form of Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
“The whole story is a nothingburger”, Don Jr. concluded.
“Yes, I went to the meeting, but nothing illegal happened”.
Don Jr.’s solution was to distract his brother with a fidget spinner.
“My father gives me advice all the time”, he said. The slimy, loose-lipped businessman from Long Island makes for comedy gold; he was only part of the Trump administration for ten days, but this early edition of SNL allows an opportunity to portray him. “The Mooch has no regrets, baby”.
The rest of the show was a quick run through the summer’s biggest hits, including Lavar Ball, “Will and Grace“, “The Emoji Movie” and Leslie Jones and her “Michelle Obama arms”.
