There was also the political corruption case of MO House Speaker Richard J. Rabbitt, convicted in '77 of taking money from auto dealers to influence state lawmaking. He was tried & convicted on 2 felony counts: taking money from auto dealers lobbyists to influence legislation, & extort from the MO Bus and Truck Assn. Sent to prison, temp stripped of his law license & served 16 mos of a 4-year sentence before parole. 13 months in a fed prison in Lexington, Ky, and 3 mos at St Louis halfway house.
