Sofia. We should seek to emphasise on hot topics such as migration and the Dublin agreement, which are obviously blocked in both the Council and the Parliament, there is no particular progress in a positive direction, said socialist MEP Georgi Pirinski.
He took part in the discussion “Political Aspects of the Parliamentary Dimension of the First Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council”, held at the Bulgarian parliamentary committee on European issues.
Along with the more general issues of security and defence, it is appropriate to consider such an emphasis, the MEP said, quoted by a reporter of FOCUS News Agency.
A criterion for our EU Council presidency will be our ability to be a consensus factor at a time when the EU is experiencing almost unknown shocks and difficulties, when the discussion in the European Parliament is quite sharp, he noted. He also said there is no longer a major coalition in the EP, there are serious justifications of different views regarding the discussed scenarios.
